Mauri & Welcome

We are the Saint Michael Abatiku Catholic Community, a devoted group of believers living on the remote Abatiku Islet. Despite the isolation, our faith remains strong, and we gather together to worship, support one another, and grow as one body in Christ.

As a small and isolated community, we face many challenges.
Today, we are reaching out to kind-hearted individuals and organizations to support two of our most urgent needs:

NEW CHAPEL

Our current chapel—a local, traditional structure—has become unsafe and unsuitable for our growing community. It has been standing for many years and is now a rotten, long-term building that can no longer serve us properly.

To ensure the safety and dignity of our worship, we are seeking to build a new concrete chapel that will provide a strong, lasting, and welcoming space for our community. This new structure will serve as the spiritual heart of Saint Michael – Abatiku Catholic Community, where we can gather for Mass, sacraments, fellowship, and important church events.

We have set a fundraising goal of $40,000 to make this vision a reality. We are now launching our fundraising campaign and humbly invite your support. Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to a safe and sacred place we can call our spiritual home.

MARIAN GROTTO

A Sacred Space for Prayer, Peace, and Presence

We are planting a dream: a Marian Grotto – a quiet, sacred space dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus. This will be a place of reflection, peace, and prayer for our people, especially in times of hardship and joy.

Our community has no chapel building yet, and while we continue to pray and fundraise for a new church, this grotto will serve as a spiritual center where we can gather in faith. It will be built with stones that reflect our land and hearts, and it will carry water and light – symbols of life and hope.

Every contribution – big or small – brings us closer to creating this holy space for our community.
